I was on a cruise and I bought a ukulele while in port. I grabbed it a few times each day and walked around the ship. People smiled, I got requests to play, I jammed with other musicians and spun a few tunes for the solo traveler group.
It broke the ice and sparked conversation from ukuleles "want to bet", travel enthusiasts who had visited Hawaii and knowledge seekers.
I made connections I wouldn't have stumbled upon. A heart melting moment was when a teenage girl who was nonverbal made it clear that she'd like to hear a tune. Afterwards she "high fived" me and gave me an appreciation hug. Magic happened with my ukulele in hand.
How do you let your passions shine though as you travel?
