An event on a friend’s Facebook page intrigued me. Even though it was mid week and mid day - it had my "name on it". It was a lecture on the life of PT Barnum and his power of influence and his "genius" as a businessman.
When the day finally arrived, it was the coldest day of the year. There was lots of frozen snow accumulation left over from weeks of storms... I found myself drafting a list of reasons not to go.
Then I began seeing the "whole picture". Besides the lecture, I planned to go to a gallery exhibit and have lunch. The decision to go was based on asking myself, "Why miss out because of small inconveniences?
The fascinating lecture was held in an intimate space in Yale's Art School in New Haven, CT. I had the art gallery to myself and the sun came out for the walk between places. I ate at one of the ethnic restaurants nearby and it made me feel like I was half a world away.
It was so easy... and I almost didn’t go.
When faced with the decision "to go or not to go" how do you decide?
